We would like to thank the campers, counselors, parents and other volunteers who have taken the time to call, write, or e-mail Freedom Generation with their thoughts regarding the decision to suspend the camp program. The common thread among correspondence received is the sense that Freedom Generation will continue to offer valuable information, but will cease to offer programs that would allow young people to meet, interact, learn, and have fun while being surrounded by like-minded individuals. Rest assured that Freedom Generation does understand the importance of face-to-face interaction and the need for camaraderie among our members. Though Freedom Generation will not be sponsoring the summer camp program, we do plan on offering alternatives to the summer camp that would provide various social outlets for our members. A recent letter mailed to our 2008 campers and staff stated:
The letter went on further to say:
We absolutely intend to engage our audience beyond the internet in a way that is not only informative, but also fun and memorable. You may notice several small changes on FreedomGen.com already. The "Community" section is now functional and will continue to grow as web traffic to our site expands (if you have not yet done so, please become a registered user on the community today). This is only the beginning of our planned changes and we are looking forward to providing our viewers with many useful features over the coming months. Please bear with us as we continue to develop programs for Freedom Generation. ~ The Freedom Generation Staff |
